Dr. Kathleen Mooney, superintendent of the Port Washington School District, told a local CBS-TV affiliate, "Some of these injuries can unintentionally become very serious, so we want to make sure our children have fun, but are also protected."
The CBS station suggested that parents believe the school may have decided to take this action now because they're concerned about getting sued if students are hurt during recess.
