His lecture is part of the annual celebration honoring the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. His books include The Cosmopolitan Canopy: Race and Civility in Everyday Life and Code of the Street: Decency, Violence, and the Moral Life of the Inner City.
Michael Pollan, author of four New York Times bestsellers, will speak at 7:30 p.m. April 21 in the University of Dayton RecPlex.
It is co-sponsored by the Brother Joseph W. Stander Symposium. A book signing will follow. Pollan’s bestsellers include Food Rules: An Eater’s Manual; In Defense of Food: An Eater’s Manifesto; The Omnivore’s Dilemma: A Natural History of Four Meals; and The Botany of Desire: A Plant’s-Eye View of the World. Time magazine named Pollan one of the world’s 100 most influential people in 2010.
The talks are free and open to the public. Tickets are not required, but seating is limited and offered on a first-come basis. Parking is available without a permit in B and C lots.
