We spoke to Meyer about the challenges facing the industry and how it goes about tackling tough hiring issues. Here’s what he had to say:
Q: What’s the biggest challenge facing the company and others in the industry and how is the company uniquely positioned to address that challenge?
A: “The biggest challenge is recruiting in a tough market like Cincinnati, we have a unique position that is not for everyone. We are building a great place to work and thriving sales environment that offers many benefits.”

Q: What’s the most prevalent roadblock you encounter when it comes to hiring and what can job seekers do to remedy that situation?
A: “Our biggest roadblock is finding individuals who are willing and able to commit to the type of position we are hiring for. It is very much like owning your own business and you have to treat is as such. The position affords you a lot of freedom and flexibility, we need to be able to find those people who want to do that and make six figures.”
Q: What’s the vision for the company’s growth, both jobs and otherwise, for the next five years?
A: “The vision for our local office is to be add 15 to 20 jobs in our direct sales department. We want to continue to add and develop long term employees who are going to step to be our leadership of the future.”
Q: Some job seekers are concerned about the limits of advancement within a company. To what degree can your employees advance from entry-level roles to be promoted to greater positions within the company?
A: “Spectrum prides itself on the idea of promoting from within. Due to the size of the company it offers amazing advancement opportunities here locally and all over the country. We have had sales reps who have come in and been promoted inside our direct sales office. We have also had many reps move across country to California and Hawaii for career advancement.”
