Ohio Sen. Portman to introduce Kavanaugh at Supreme Court hearings next week

Sen. Rob Portman said Tuesday that he will be introducing Judge Brett Kavanaugh at Kavanaugh’s confirmation hearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee next week.

Portman, an Ohio Republican who worked with Kavanaugh in the George W. Bush White House, has helped prep Kavanaugh for his confirmation hearings and considers him a friend. The two men have known each other for more than 15 years.

In a statement, he called Kavanaugh “a man of great compassion and great humility with a big heart.”

Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, has already announced he will oppose Kavanaugh’s confirmation.
