Cincinnati’s park board voted Thursday to approve the plan for Stanbery Park in Mount Washington, our media partner WCPO-TV in Cincinnati reported.

The board noted that Plush’s grandparents contributed to the park for years as volunteers. Plush also had deep connections to the park, where at age 13 he served as a counselor in training.

Since Plush’s death, his parents have been advocating 911 reform.

Plush called 911 twice the afternoon of April 10, 2018, as he was trapped in the back of a Honda Odyssey in a parking lot at Seven Hills High School. He died of asphyxiation. Investigators said they believe he leaned over the rear-most seat to retrieve a tennis racquet when he became trapped and suffocated due to chest compression.
