Man ID’d in fatal airplane crash originating at Dayton Airport

The deceased pilot is Matthew Hayden, 44, of Phoenix, Arizona. The flight originated at the Dayton International Airport at 5:17 p.m., according to Union County Sheriff Malcum Patton. The flight was en route to Delaware, Ohio.

The incident was reported around 5:42 p.m.

The 1974 Cessna 421B airplane initially landed west of U.S. 42, skipped across the roadway, landed again east of the road then hit several power poles, according to officials. Most of the Village of Plain City was without power.

Several roads are closed in the area including U.S. 42 from Delaware County to U.S. 35. The road will be closed again today beginning at 2 p.m. for an unknown period of time for the investigation to continue, according to a statement from Patton.

The aircraft is owned by Classic Solutions Company, Incorporated of Bakersfield, California, the statement said.
