OSU President Michael V. Drake earned $410,497 last year — which is slightly more than half of his annual base salary. He started the job mid-year.
In 2014, Ohio State carried a $2.16 billion payroll, which includes $41.2 million on bonuses. Payroll increased 27.8 percent in the last five years while bonuses tripled during that time.
Here is a look at what the 2014 pay and bonus database shows:
— 102 employees made $500,000 or more
— 629 employees made between $250,000 and half a million dollars;
— 3,853 employees made between $100,000 and $250,000;
— OSU doled out 74 bonuses of $100,000 or more, mostly to medical professors, athletics staff and top administrators;
— overtime totaled $35 million; and
— 697 employees made $10,000 or more in overtime.
Police officers and specialty nurses top the list of overtime earners. University law enforcement officer Thomas Schneider topped the overtime list, making $88,836 in extra pay on top of his $82,661 regular pay.
Although Meyer is the top paid Ohio State employee and the highest paid public worker statewide, he falls at number six among college football coaches, according to data from USA Today.
But Meyer may move up the rankings as the university pays out bonuses for reaching and winning the college championship game earlier this year.
