Stivers offers summer arts program for grades 4-12

Stivers School for the Arts invites visual and performing arts students throughout the Miami Valley to Dayton Summer Arts 2013, which will be held June 10 through June 21 at the 1313 E. Fifth St. school.

Students in grades 4-12 can register in person, online or by mail for classes in dance, painting and drawing, piano, band, musical theatre, creative writing and more. Morning and afternoon sessions will provide ways to explore creativity.

Among the course offerings are “Woodwind Fun” and “Brass and Percussion” for students in grades 4-7. Each session will teach the basics of playing instruments, while learning how to read notes and rhythms. Both are taught by Stivers jazz orchestra instructor Scott Gasaway, a Berklee College of Music graduate and accomplished saxophonist. Gasaway will serve as director for the summer camp.
