Task Force Formed To Combat Crime

On Tuesday, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, along with other local, state and federal agencies, combined to create the RANGE Task Force.

The Regional Agencies Narcotics and Gun Enforcement Task Force is a multi-jurisdictional task force whose primary mission is to investigate crime around the Miami Valley.

By combining resources, the RANGE Task Force will be able to take a more proactive approach to reducing major crimes from occurring in Montgomery County.

The task force is designed to mainly focus on drug complaints and drug traffickers, but it will have the ability to also investigate other areas of organized crime to include, but not limited to burglary and theft rings, serial robberies and other offenses.

As of June 1, the following agencies have committed personnel to the task force:

* Montgomery County Sheriffs Office * Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification & Investigation * Alcohol Tobacco & Firearms * Trotwood Police Department * Clayton Police Department * Five Rivers Metro Parks * Miami Township Police Department * Perry Township Police Department

The joint task force kicked off on Tuesday.
