As temps rise so do numbers at local gym

As temperatures across the region rise many people are turning to the indoors and air-conditioned environments to get a work out in.

“We keep our temperature gauge at 68 degrees, so it’s quite cool inside,” said Nita Renfow, night manager at Fitworks on Indian Ripple Road in Beavercreek. “We’ve noticed an increase in traffic as it’s gotten hotter.”

Fitworks is located at 4464 Indian Ripple Road and is open 24-hours a day Monday through Friday offering a cool place to workout even during the overnight hours.

Logan Shephard works out at Fitworks and said while he is stuck working in the sun all day, he welcomes the air conditioned environment for a workout.

“It’s definitely better to work inside in the air condition, because I work outside all day long in the hot sun,” Shephard said. “It feels nice to come in here where its air conditioned and just get a good lift in.”

Renfow said people working out inside often times do not have to drink as much water as those working out outdoors, but still advised that staying hydrated while doing physical activity is very important.
