Students held candles, cried and gave each other comfort. They describe the deadly fire as one of the worst events in the school’s history.
Investigators said three out of the eight smoke detectors in the home did not have batteries in them. They said two out of the three detectors without batteries were upstairs, where both female victims died.
The state fire marshal’s office is trying to determine what caused the blaze and continues to focus on a downstairs recreation room.
At this time, investigators do not believe the fire is suspicious.
