Toxic Fumes Discovered; Beavercreek Hotel Evacuated

Hazmat crews were forced Wednesday to evacuate a local hotel after toxic fumes were discovered inside.

Medics rushed two people from the Residence Inn in Beavercreek to Miami Valley Hospital because of the fumes.

Investigators said a sanitation system overheated in the building that houses the pool. They said chlorine tablets then created a vapor cloud, which in large quantities could be lethal.

The hotel was evacuated and two staff members were taken to a local hospital by ambulance.

Authorities said guests have since been allowed to return to their rooms.
