1 injured in wreck that ruptured home gas meter

A two-car crash at Selma Road and Pine Street on Friday afternoon sent one of the vehicles into a home’s gas meter, rupturing the line.

That car, a Dodge Magnum, destroyed a chain link fence in the yard before hitting the meter and stopping in the side yard of the home in the 1100 block of Selma.

The second car continued through the home’s front fence before coming to a stop in the front yard.

It appeared there was at least one minor injury from the accident, which occurred just before 4 p.m., according to Springfield police, fire and EMS and a Columbia Gas crew, which all were dispatched to the scene.

The cause of the crash is being investigated, according to police.
