Woman accused of using hammer to injure boyfriend

A woman was arrested on a charge of felonious assault after her live-in boyfriend told police she hit him in the head with a hammer.

Police responded to Selma Road at 12:47 a.m. today where a male victim had a laceration on his head. The victim told police he was outside when his girlfriend accused him of cheating before striking him on the head with a hammer.

When police spoke to the suspect, identified as Katherine M. Brandon, she denied that she had assaulted the victim, according to a police report. Officers found a hammer and a baseball bat in the residence.

Brandon was arrested on a charge of felonious assault.

The victim was taken to Springfield Regional Medical Center.
