Woman’s Body Found In Stillwater River In Dayton

Investigators said a kayaker discovered a body in the Stillwater River and authorities believe it may be the woman who drowned at the Englewood Dam with her husband on Christmas Day.

The body was found shortly after noon on Thursday in the river just north of the Siebenthaler Bridge at Wegerzyn Garden Center in Dayton.

Authorities have not confirmed that the body is that of Patricia Wenner, but they said it was a woman’s body found in the water near an island in the Stillwater River.

Dayton firefighters and officers from 5 Rivers Metroparks descended on the Stillwater River after the kayaker informed park officials of his discovery.

On Christmas Day, Craig and Patricia Wenner drowned in the river. Authorities said they believe that Patricia Wenner was trying to help the family dog, who went into the river near the Englewood Dam.

Investigators said Craig Wenner tried to save his wife, but both were swept away. On Thursday, a female body was found almost 10 miles down river from the dam.

Authorities said the body was taken out of the river and taken to the coroner’s office.

Investigators said they continue to search for Craig Wenner and are hoping for the best.
