Youth pastor killed in crash on U.S. 127

The fatality in Tuesday morning's crash on U.S. 127 at Hollansburg-Arcanum Road was the pastor of Student Ministries.

Brian Delk of The Castine Church of the Brethren was on his way to the church when the crash was reported west of Arcanum in Darke County at 10:40 a.m.  The scene was about 4 miles north of the church, which is also on 127 at the very north edge of the village of Castine.

According to the Darke County Sheriff's Office, a preliminary investigation suggests that the driver of a van pulled into the path of Delk's sports utility vehicle and caused it to flip over.

The Rev. Greg Hyde, senior pastor at the church, described Delk as a "tremendous servant of the Lord."

Once the investigation is completed by the sheriff's office, the report will be reviewed by county Prosecutor R. Kelly Ormsby III. Chances are the crash will be reviewed by a grand jury.
