CareSource Foundation names new leader

A CareSource executive is the new leader of the insurance company’s foundation.

The Dayton-based insurance company, which covers 1.8 million people in five states, announced Dan McCabe would be expanding his role and become the new CEO of its foundation after working as CareSource chief administrative officer since 2012.

In its 2018 tax filing, the foundation reported a little over $2 million in revenue and paid out $1.1 million in grants and other expenses.

CareSource said McCabe’s role has expanded and he will now serve as the chief of staff and lead the CareSource Foundation as its CEO.

Prior to CareSource, his 31-year career includes leadership positions with DP&L, AT&T and the NCR Corporation. McCabe will continue to be based out of the health insurer’s Dayton headquarters.

“In both of these roles, Dan will be helping us drive our strategy, increase coordination across the organization and play a role in creating an ecosystem in communities where future employees will want to live, play and work,” Erhardt Preitauer President and CEO, CareSource, said in a statement. “He’s a champion for our communities, our members and employees. I’m confident this decision will continue the great work we do in all of the markets we serve and the ones that we will be serving in the future.”

CareSource Foundation stated that since 2006 it has awarded nearly $20 million to nonprofits. The CareSource Foundation provides grants to nonprofit organizations with a focus on impacting children, adults and families in areas that mirror the social determinants of health.
