“(OSU defensive line coach Larry Johnson) told me, ‘You can play for Ohio State,’ ” Howe told Bucknuts.com. “(An offer) will take some time. But he says I’m good enough to play for Ohio State.”
During March, Howe also visited Notre Dame, Pittsburgh and Illinois. This month, he’s slated to visit Northwestern and Michigan State.
Howe’s current offer sheet includes Illinois, Pitt, Toledo, Miami, Northwestern, Boston College and Iowa State.
Anna junior two-way lineman Chandler Cotterman (6-5, 290) is scheduled to visit Ohio State on Thursday. Cotterman holds an offer from Toledo.
Also on OSU’s radar? Chaminade Julienne sophomore quarterback Jacob Harrison who was scheduled to visit the Buckeyes on Saturday. Harrison has additional spring trips planned to Cincinnati, Northwestern, Akron and Tennessee. He’ll compete in the Elite 11 (Chicago and Columbus), Top Gun and Rivals camps.
Another Elk inks: Centerville senior running back/defensive back Nick Bozzo (6-0, 190) has signed with Youngstown State. Bozzo is a two-time All-GWOC Central Division selection who was first team at running back and kicker last season. He also held an offer from Georgetown College.
Seeing Green: Greenville senior offensive lineman Kyle Bruner (6-1, 250) has signed with Wittenberg. Bruner is a two-time first team All-GWOC North selection.
In addition, Greenville junior linebacker Bryce Jenkinson (6-2, 230) picked up two new offers last week from Ball State and Miami. A first team All-GWOC North performer, Jenkinson also holds offers from Toledo and Kent State.
Knight time: Alter junior offensive lineman Billy Shancey (6-3, 200) recently attended Princeton University's Junior Days. Shancey, who will be a three-year starter at offensive tackle for the Knights, projects as a defensive end in college. A 4.0 student who was All-GCL North Division last season, Shancey is also being courted by Yale.
Power lifting: Northmont senior defensive lineman Blake Harper (6-0, 250) is headed to Tiffin to play football. When he arrives he'll bring impressive power lifting credentials.
Harper recently finished first in the unlimited class at the Ohio High School State Power Lifting Meet at Kenton High School. Harper squatted 700 pounds, dead lifted 540 and benched 310 to win the state title with a 1,550 total. That was the most out of all competitors in all seven divisions.
Harper won the 225-pound class last year and was second as a sophomore.
