Dayton out hit Temple 18-11 on the day as five Flyers had multi-hit games. Bryan Chandler led the attack with a 4-for-5 performance including two runs scored and two RBI.
Galen Schumm finished 3-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBI for UD. Three other Flyers had two hits each including Joe McSoley, Bobby Getty and William Benoit. McSoley was 2-for-5 with a double, two runs scored and three RBI. Getty finished 2-for-5 with a stolen base, run scored and an RBI while Benoit added a run scored and an RBI as part of a 2-for-4 day.
Sophomore Kyle Lindsay earned the win for the Flyers in relief after 3.2 innings of shutout pitching. He surrendered just two hits and a walk while improving to 3-1 on the year.
Lindsay came on in relief of senior starter Kaleb Thompson who threw the first 5.1 innings and allowed four earned runs on nine hits while striking out a pair of Owl batters.
UD managed just one run over its first five trips to the plate as Schumm hit an RBI single in the third to send home Chandler.
Trailing 5-1 in the sixth, The Flyers began the frame with six consecutive hits as part of a 13-batter, nine-run rout. McSoley had a two-RBI double followed by Benoit and Chandler and a bases-loaded walk by Aaron Hepner to put the Flyers ahead 6-5 and chase TU starter Tim Foulkrod from the game. Dayton kept the rally alive with a two-RBI double by Massa, a sacrifice fly from Schumm and an RBI single from Getty to take a 10-5 lead after six innings.
UD added another run in the seventh on an RBI ground out by Craig Rohren and two more in the eighth as McSoley and Chandler were credited with RBI singles to wrap up the victory for the Flyers, 13-5.
