Fort Loramie’s Jared Hoying debuts with Texas Rangers

Fort Loramie High School graduate Jared Hoying made his big league debut Monday with the Texas Rangers,

Hoying, 27, was called up from Triple-A Round Rock and started in left field in a game against the Angels in Arlington, Texas. He went 0-for-2.

Hoying played college baseball at the University of Toledo. The Rangers drafted him in the 10th round in 2010. He appeared in 698 minor league games in six seasons. He was hitting .319 with seven home runs and 32 RBIs with Round Rock.

The Rangers needed help in the outfield after injuries to two former Cincinnati Reds: Drew Stubbs and Shin-Soo Choo, who are both on the disabled list.
