Bengals’ Burrow says ‘see ya next year’ after being carted off with knee injury

Quarterback Joe Burrow was carted off with an serious left knee injury in the third quarter of the Cincinnati Bengals’ road game against the Washington Football Team.

CBS wouldn’t even show the replay, noting “it wasn’t pretty,” but the injury occured when Jonathan Allen hit Burrow as he threw an incomplete pass on a third-and-2. The entire team surrounded Burrow as he was helped to the cart to be taken to the locker room. The Bengals have officially declared him out for the remainder of the game.

The Bengals were leading 9-7 at the time, and after the punt, Washington drove down the other way and scored to take a 14-9 advantage with 9:04 left in the third quarter. Backup quarterback Ryan Finley came in for his first full series of the season, and Cincinnati went three-and-out.

In his 10th game, Burrow, the first pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, had completed 22 of 34 passes for 206 yards with a first-half touchdown to A.J. Green, his first touchdown reception since 2018.
