Coldwater to play Clinton-Massie in football

First, Marion Local, and now Midwest Athletic Conference rival Coldwater: Come on down.

Coldwater athletic director Eric Goodwin announced on Wednesday the Cavaliers will play a two-year series with Clinton-Massie. Coldwater will be at Massie in Week 2 of the 2017 season and Massie will be at Coldwater in Week 2 of 2018.

The mid-sized state powers have played just once, Coldwater blowing out Massie 63-14 in a 2007 Division IV regional final at Welcome Stadium. Massie won D-IV state titles in 2012-13. Coldwater has won three straight D-V state titles and was a state runner-up the previous three seasons.

Marion Local will be the first team to play at Chaminade Julienne’s new Roger Glass Stadium, which will open next season. The Flyers have won four straight smallest-school state titles.
