Women’s Basketball: Three Dayton Flyers recognized by A-10

Cornelie-Sigmundova named Defensive Player of the Year; Cannatelli named Rookie of the Year

The University of Dayton women’s basketball team was well represented on the Atlantic 10 All-Conference teams announced Tuesday.

Senior Jodie Cornelie-Sigmundova was named Defensive Player of the Year and freshman Lauren Cannatelli was named Rookie of the Year. Sophomore Jenna Burdette was a third-team, all-conference selection.

Cornelie-Sigmundova, a 6-foot-4 center, leads the A-10 in blocked shots and averages 3.6 per game. She ranks fourth nationally in blocks per game. She also was named to the All-Academic team.

Cannatelli, a 5-8 guard, averages 10.6 points in her first collegiate season.

Burdette, a 5-8 guard, averages 11.2 points and 4.8 assists per game.

The Flyers, the No. 8 seed, face ninth-seeded George Mason at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Atlantic 10 Tournament.
