College Football: Miami tops Buffalo for fifth straight win

Gus Ragland threw two touchdown passes and ran for another score, De'Andre Montgomery returned an interception and a fumble for scores and Miami beat Buffalo 35-24 on Saturday to win its fifth straight.

Ragland hit Jared Murphy on a 40-yard touchdown pass on the RedHawks' opening drive and later ran it in from the Buffalo 7 for a 13-0 lead. Ragland's 17-yard touchdown pass to Jared Murphy put the RedHawks (5-6, 5-2 Mid-American Conference) up 20-7 at halftime.

Montgomery picked off a pass by Tyree Jackson and returned it 20 yards for a score in the third quarter, then ran 92 yards for a score after recovering Jackson’s fumble after he was sacked.

Nick Dowd’s 20-yard field goal with 9:57 to play put Miami up 35-10.

Buffalo's Brandon Crawford also returned a fumble for a score, running it in from the Miami 9 after Ragland was sacked. Jordan Johnson (29 carries for 100 yards) scored on a 2-yard run and Johnathan Hawkins on a 10-yard run for the Bulls (2-8, 1-5).

Miami, which won at Buffalo for the first time since 2010, wraps up the season at home vs. Ball State for Senior Night on Tuesday, Nov. 22.
