I'm sorry, I love you buckeye nation.
Ohio State All-American Joey Bosa was disqualified for targeting in the first quarter of today’s Fiesta Bowl against Notre Dame in Glendale, Ariz.
Bosa, a junior defensive end, hit Notre Dame DeShone Kizer in the chest with the crown of his helmet as Kizer delivered a pass. Bosa was penalized for targeting and the replay booth confirmed the call, meaning Bosa was ejected from the game with 5:26 left in the first quarter and Ohio State leading 14-0. The penalty also negated an interception by Ohio State’s Tyvis Powell.
Bosa said earlier this week he would forego his senior season and enter the NFL Draft. He’s been tapped as a first-round lock — and likely first overall pick — in the NFL Draft.
Freshman Sam Hubbard replaced Bosa.
Notre Dame lost its best defensive player — linebacker Jaylon Smith — to an apparent knee injury in the first quarter. Smith also is a likely first-round pick.
