Area products contribute for MSJ football

Two Springboro High School graduates are making contributions to the College of Mount St. Joseph football team this season.

Sophomore Jason Stinebaugh is the starting quarterback. He's completed 17-of-33 passes for 163 yards and no touchdowns with two interceptions, also rushing 14 times for 54 yards.

Sophomore defensive back Mike Tepe has added five total tackles for the Lions, who are 1-2 overall and 0-2 in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference. Junior Tyler Breh (Edgewood) is a starting offensive guard.

The Mount returns to HCAC action at home against Anderson on Saturday night.

• Sophomore linebacker Aaron Lewis (Middletown) has seven total tackles for Thomas More, which is 1-2 overall and 1-1 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference.

Sophomore place-kicker Aaron Kimbrough (Middletown) has converted his only kick, a 43-yard field goal.

The Saints travel to Geneva (Pa.) on Saturday afternoon.

• Sophomore defensive tackle Justin Cox (Fenwick) has six total tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and one sack for Morehead State, which is 1-3 overall and 0-1 in the Pioneer Football League.

The Eagles will host Jacksonville on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 6.

Women’s soccer

Sophomore forward Taylor Fultz (Preble Shawnee) is among Bluffton's leading scorers with two goals. The Beavers are 1-6 and visit Oberlin tonight.

• Freshman defender/midfielder Brandi VanderYacht (Franklin) has played in every game and made five starts for Urbana, which is 3-5 and travels to Seton Hill on Thursday afternoon.

Women’s golf

Ohio junior Kara Brinkmann (Mount Notre Dame) of Middletown tied for 53rd place in Ball State's 12-team Cardinal Classic over the weekend.

Brinkmann had an 82-89—171 total on the par-72 Players Club course in Yorktown, Ind. The Bobcats tied for eighth place in the team standings (Ball State won the title).

OU will begin play in Penn State’s Nittany Lion Invitational on Friday.
