Flyers hosting 5K run Saturday

UD cross country: The 2011 UD Cross Country Experience, a 5K race on grass trails, will be held at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at Forest Field Park, located one mile east of Centerville High School. The race is open to runners of all ages and abilities. A 1K race also is available to kids 9-and-under. Entry fee of $15 includes a water-wicking men's T-shirt or women's tank top and age-group awards. For more information contact UD men's cross country coach Rich Davis at (937) 229-4293.

UD athletics: Paul Ivkovich had been hired as the Flyers strength and conditioning coach for men's and women's basketball and the Flyer golf teams. Ivkovich has worked for schools from the Big Ten, Big East, MAC, WAC and Conference USA.

Local golf: Bellbrook’s Sarah Kolodzik shot an 85 (42-43) at the U.S. Girls Junior Amateur Championship in Olympia Fields, Ill. Thailand’s Ariya Jutanugarn led with a 66 on the 6,403-yard, par-72 course.
