“Obviously, I watched film with Coach (Anthony) Grant,” Davis said. “We looked at it. Shooters always have short memories. He told me not to worry about it and come back next game and respond.”
Davis had an individual workout with assistant coach Ricardo Greer on Wednesday.
“I need to do that more often to get in a rhythm and keep me fresh and get my shot going,” Davis said.
Davis opened the scoring with a four-point play. He hit another 3-pointer two minutes later and then made a layup, a third 3-pointer and a jump shot in the first six minutes. He had 14 of Dayton’s first 18 points. The Flyers trailed 5-4 and then scored 16 straight points to take control.
Dayton finished its non-conference schedule at 6-6. The Flyers had one two-game losing streak but otherwise have alternated wins and losses all season.
“My main focus right now is to at least to get back-to-back wins for the first time this season,” said Davis, who planned to drive home to Detroit after the game with his mom for Christmas.

Next game: The Flyers return to action at 4 p.m. Dec. 30, opening Atlantic 10 Conference play against Duquesne in Pittsburgh. Dayton will play St. Bonaventure at 8:30 p.m. Jan. 3 in its A-10 home opener.
The Flyers will get three days off for Christmas, Grant said, and return to campus Wednesday.
“They’ll be able to spend time with family and friends,” Grant said, “and get away and refocus and regroup for the start of conference.”
Around the A-10: St. Bonaventure (10-2) beat Syracuse on the road 60-57 on Friday. That's one of the more impressive victories by any A-10 team this season. Through Friday, the Bonnies had the best overall record in the conference.
Duquesne (9-3) beat San Francisco 67-65 Friday. The Dukes have the second-best mark in the conference but have feasted on lower-ranked opponents. Seven of their victories are against teams ranked below 300 in the Pomeroy ratings.
Duquesne ranks 203rd. Dayton ranks 136th. St. Bonaventure ranks 57th. No. 52 Rhode Island (7-3) is the top-ranked A-10 team.
