Dayton to honor Steve McElvene tonight

The University of Dayton announced Wednesday a tribute to late Dayton Flyers center Steve McElvene will begin at 6:50 p.m. Friday.

Dayton plays Austin Peay in its season opener. The game will tip off at 7:05 p.m.

This will be Dayton's first official game without McElvene, who died May 12 of an enlarged heart. McElvene's family will attend the game and participate in a pregame ceremony.

Time Warner Cable SportsChannel will broadcast the game, and the live stream will also be carried on DaytonFlyers.com.
