Dayton Flyers add to 2017 recruiting class

Nahziah Carter is 6-5 forward from Rochester, N.Y.

The Dayton Flyers picked up their fourth player in the class of 2017 on Saturday night.

Nahziah Carter, a 6-foot-5 forward from Rochester, N.Y., and Bishop Kearney High School, announced his verbal commitment on Twitter. He visited Dayton on Friday for the season opener against Austin Peay.

Dayton signed three recruits last week: guards Jordan Davis and McKinley Wright and forward Jordan Pierce.

Carter is a three-star recruit, according to ESPN. According to Evan Daniels, Scout.com’s director of basketball recruiting, Carter is the nephew of Shawn Carter, the rapper known as Jay Z, who is married to Beyoncé Knowles.

“I’d like to thank God for blessing me with abilities and talents that have accumulated many scholarships for me in the sport of basketball,” Carter wrote on Twitter. “But with options comes choice, and I am proud to announce I have committed to the University of Dayton, a place with a great atmosphere and campus and a place where I plan to continue to develop myself academically and athletically for the next four years.”
