Flyers getting more respect from voters as they extend winning streak to 12 games

The Dayton Flyers moved closer to the top 25 in the Associated Press women's basketball poll Monday.

Dayton received one vote last week and had seven points in voting this week. It’s one of 14 teams just outside the top 25. Dayton has the 32nd-most points in voting.

Dayton (18-4, 11-0) extended its winning streak to 12 games Sunday with a 74-64 victory against Virginia Commonwealth at UD Arena.

In the latest ESPN Bracketology, released Monday, Dayton received a No. 9 seed. The Flyers moved up a spot from last week. The new prediction has them playing No. 8 seed Virginia in Starkville, Miss. Dayton ranks 44th in the RPI.

Dayton has five more games remaining in the regular season. It plays at Massachussets (11-12, 3-7) at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Dayton plays its last four games against teams in the top six of the A-10 standings: George Washington (11-11, 6-4); Fordham (18-6, 9-2); George Mason (18-6, 7-3); and Saint Louis (13-10, 7-3).
