Dayton’s Holmes will host basketball camp for kids

It’s one of four camps involving current and former Flyers going on this summer in area

DaRon Holmes II has joined Obi Toppin, Ryan Mikesell, Scoochie Smith and Malachi Smith in the Dayton Flyers summer camp business.

Holmes, a sophomore forward at UD who was the Atlantic 10 Conference Rookie of the Year last season, will hold a camp from 5-8 p.m. July 17 at Sinclair Community College. It’s open to boys and girls in grades three through 12. Cost is $69.

Wade O’Connor, of Make Plays Today, is helping Holmes with the camp. People can register on his website: MakePlaysToday.com.

Here’s a glance at the other camps involving former and current Flyers:

The Smith Camp: The Smith brothers will host campers July 16-17 at the UD RecPlex. The camp runs from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. each day. It costs $75 for one day or $125 for both. It’s open to kids in grades first through eighth.

CareSource Obi Toppin Basketball ProCamp: Toppin’s camp, open to kids in grades first through eighth, will be held at the RedPlex from 9 a.m. to noon Aug. 2-3. Cost is $199.

Camp 33: Mikesell’s camp will be held Aug. 6 at the St. Henry Community Center. It open to kids in grades three through eight. Cost is $55.
