Drew Brees connected with Trautman for a 17-yard gain in the first half on Monday Night Football. Trautman was 4 years old when Brees, now 41, made his NFL debut in 2001.

The Saints (1-1) lost 34-24 to the Las Vegas Raiders, who are coached by UD graduate Jon Gruden.

Trautman was the first Dayton player drafted in 43 years when the Saints took him in the third round in April. He made his NFL debut in Week 1 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
