WATCH: De La Cruz nearly hits a ball out of Great American Ball Park

De La Cruz hit a two-run home run in the first inning Wednesday, tying the score at 2-2 against the Los Angeles Dodgers. The ball nearly left Great American Ball Park, landing in the top row of the right-field stands.

De La Cruz stopped to watch his first career home run soar into the stands before flipping his bat toward the dugout and starting his home-run trot.

The ball traveled 458 feet. Adam Dunn owns the longest home run in GABP history. He hit one 535 feet in 2004.

In his second at-bat, De La Cruz hit his first career triple and then scored on a single by Spencer Steer. The Reds cut the Dodgers’ lead to 6-4. The Reds won 8-6 on a walk-off home run by Will Benson in the ninth. De La Cruz went 2-for-4.

De La Cruz, the top prospect in baseball, was promoted to the Reds on Tuesday and went 1-for-3 with a double and two walks in a 9-8 victory against the Dodgers.
