Down on the farm, Senzel sizzles for the Reds’ AA Pensacola Blue Wahoos

Nick Senzel is serious about baseball, and the Reds’ No. 1 prospect showed it again Wednesday night when he had three more hits in the Pensacola Blue Wahoos’ 5-3 loss in 12 innings to the Chattanooga Lookouts.

Senzel has a 13-game hitting streak, and in 18 games at the Class AA level the third baseman is batting .318 with two home runs, 10 RBI and 13 runs scored. Drafted No. 2 overall by the Reds in 2016, the former University of Tennessee star smoked the ball at the high Class A level before being moved up a few weeks ago.

Some in baseball believe that Senzel could be the first position player of the 2016 draft class to reach the Major Leagues.

With today being the last of the MLB All-Star break, a look at the minor leagues reveals that Wednesday was a rough day for the Reds as every team lost, yet Senzel was one of several individual highlights.
