Fairmont expected to name successor as girls basketball coach

The Kettering City School District is expected to approve Kyle Boze as Fairmont’s girls varsity basketball coach during Tuesday night’s school board meeting. He will succeed Lacy Drake as coach.

Boze already is employed as a teacher in the school district. He also has extensive middle school, freshman and JV coaching experience with the Centerville boys basketball program. This past season he was the Elks’ boys JV coach.

Drake resigned after last season, her fifth with the Firebirds. Fairmont (17-9) advanced to a Division I district final.

West Carrollton, also of the Greater Western Ohio Conference, also must fill its girls basketball coaching position following the resignation of Joseph Washington.

There will be at least 10 new area girls varsity basketball coaches next season. Changing coaches are Cincinnati Christian, Fairmont, Greenon, Lakota East, Mississinawa Valley, National Trail, Southeastern, Springfield Shawnee, Urbana and West Carrollton.
