Carter, a 6-foot-6 guard who is the nephew of rapper Jay Z, was granted his release from Dayton in April after coach Archie Miller left for Indiana in late March. Point guard McKinley Wright, who re-opened his recruiting in the wake of Miller's departure, signed with Colorado in April.
