Springfield had no answer for Moeller.

The Wildcats’ celebrated season came to a skidding 65-44 halt in a boys high school basketball Division I regional semifinal at Xavier University’s Cintas Center on Wednesday night. Moeller (24-3) will play the Wayne/Princeton winner in Friday night’s D-I regional final also at the Cintas.

Springfield ends the season at 21-5 with its second straight regional trip.

Moeller had already hammered host Springfield 56-39 in the regular season and it was more of the same in this Sweet 16 matchup. The Wildcats needed everything to be clicking against last season’s D-I state runner-up and it was anything but.

Moeller’s Jeremiah Davenport scored a game-high 25 points. Jaxson Hayes, Moeller’s 6-10 senior center, added 10 points, six rebounds and four blocks.

Springfield was led by Jajuan Rodgers’ 15 ponits on 6 of 9 shooting. RaHeim Moss added 11 points.

Moeller led 29-16 at halftime and stretched it to 46-25 at the end of the third.
