A 9-1 regular season helped the Valley View Spartans get two games deep in the playoffs in 2016. This season Bob Skidmore’s team is ready to make a deeper push into the postseason.

“We’ve got a lot of seniors back,” Skidmore said. “We have a lot of optimism, but right now we are 0-0 and we keep telling them we haven’t proved anything yet.”

The Spartans have plenty of talent returning, led by quarterback Collin Wood and running back Collin Genslinger on offense and Logan Hannah on defense.

“This year we have a special group of seniors,” Hannah said. “It’s a good group of guys that hopefully can take us back to state this year.”

Valley View kicks off its season at Barker Field on Aug. 25 against Wilmington.
