High school football: Another Wayne offensive lineman receives Ohio State offer

Ohio State football has offered a scholarship to Joshua Padilla.

The Wayne High School sophomore announced the news Monday afternoon.

Padilla is not ranked yet by 247Sports, but the recruiting service reports he has already received offers from Oregon, Pittsburgh and Cincinnati. That came after Arizona State, Miami University and Eastern Kentucky.

The 6-foot-4, 265-pound offensive lineman helped the Warriors go 5-3 last season and advance to the second round of the Division I playoffs, where they lost to Springfield.

Padilla’s teammate, junior Aamil Wagner, received and Ohio State offer last week and released his top six schools over the weekend.

Wagner, who is one of the top prospects in Ohio in the 2022 class, is still considering Auburn, Penn State, Kentucky, Stanford, Notre Dame and Ohio State.

From 2000-2019, at least one Wayne graduate was on the Ohio State roster, a streak that started with Will Allen and John Hollins and continued with Marcus Freeman, Donnie Evege, Braxton Miller, Robert “BB” Landers and L’Christian “Blue” Smith.
