Carroll keeps soccer title hopes alive

Carroll High School kept its bid for a third consecutive Division II state boys soccer title alive with a 2-0 win over Indian Hill on Saturday. The game was a regional final at Hamilton.

Trae’ Collins scored the first goal for Carroll with an assist from Zach Zwiesler. Tim Barbera scored the second goal.

Keeper Noah Kummer had six saves and the shutout.

Carroll will play Columbus Bexley in the state semifinals on Wednesday at 7 p.m..

Football

Moeller 43, Wayne 21: Moeller scored 21 unanswered points to start this Division I, Region 4 first-round playoff game.

Javon Harrison was 9-of-25 passing for 133 yards, one touchdown and one interception for Wayne. He rushed 15 times for 91 yards and one touchdown. Kenny Bester rushed eight times for 150 yards and a score.

Moeller’s Spencer Iacovone was 12-of-14 passing for 166 yards and four touchdowns. He had seven carries for 57 yards, including a 34-yard run. Keith Watkins rushed 20 times for 110 yards and one touchdown. Joe Eramo rushed 16 times for 71 yards and one touchdown.

Coldwater 42, Miami East 7: Coldwater's defense held Miami East to 23 yards in the first half in this Division V, Region 20 first-round playoff game.

Austin Bruns was 20-of-26 passing for 353 yards and five touchdowns. Bruns threw all five touchdown passes in the first half. Coldwater had 10 different receivers with receptions.

Michael Fellers had eight carries for 46 yards for Miami East.

Covington 55, Dixie 18: Covington's A.J. Oullette had four touchdown runs in this Division V, Region 20 first-round playoff game.

Covington rushed for 481 yards as a team and led Dixie 35-12 at halftime.

Girls Soccer

Fenwick 2, Chillicothe Zane Trace 0: Fenwick advanced to play Summit Country Day in the Division III state semifinals on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Taylor Engle scored the first goal for Fenwick. Meghan Blank followed with the second goal.

Keeper Jenni Rossi had one save and her 14th shutout.

Volleyball

Miami East 3, Anna 0: Miami East, the defending Division III state champion, swept Anna in this regional final.

Abby Cash had six kills, seven digs and 18 assists. Leah Dunivan had eight kills, four digs, two blocks and an ace. Angie Mack had six digs, five kills and two aces. Allison Morrett had nine digs and one ace.

Marion Local 3, Fort Loramie 0: The Flyers advanced to the state tournament for the fourth time in six years to play Buckeye Central in the Division IV state semifinals.

Claire Heitkamp led Marion Local with 10 kills and three aces. Hannah Arling had 25 assists. Megan Wendel had 19 digs while Hannah Heitbrink had four kills and three blocks. Josie Winner had eight kills.
