DDN girls basketball poll for Dec. 11

Division I

1. Vandalia Butler (4-0): Brianna Innocent is averaging 13.5 points for the Aviators, who stay in the top spot after wins against Tippecanoe, Miami East, Centerville and Bellbrook.

2. Fairmont (4-0): Firebirds started 1-0 in Greater Western Ohio Conference Central by defeating Wayne and are getting 14.7 points per game from UD signee Cassie Sant.

3. Beavercreek (3-0): Beavers got 12 points from Ally Myers, 11 from Sara Kocian and 10 from Jaycey Hardenstein in 68-28 defeat of Springfield in GWOC Central opener.

4. Fairborn (4-0): Brooklyn Pumroy leads the Skyhawks at 12.7 points per game, and Jaymee Veney is strong inside with 12 boards per game.

5. Xenia (4-1): After season-opening 56-49 loss to Carroll, Buccaneers have won four straight behind Brianne Thornton (15.6 ppg) and Brittiney Latimer (13.6), two of the GWOC’s top five scorers.

Division II

1. Alter (2-0): Knights have easily beaten Northmont and Cincinnati Roger Bacon, but a big test awaits Wednesday at CJ in a major area matchup between top two area D-II powers.

2. Chaminade Julienne (2-0): Eagles have allowed 52 total points in defeats of Marshall and Cincinnati Purcell Marian; UConn signee Samarie Walker was 11-for-11 from the field in the opener for 25 points.

3. Carroll (3-0): Patriots scored a season-opening statement with a 56-49 defeat of Xenia before topping Dayton Christian and Cincinnati McNicholas.

4. Tippecanoe (3-1): After stumbling in a season-opening loss to Butler, the No. 1 team in D-I, Red Devils have ripped off three straight wins to get back into form.

5. Franklin (3-0): Wildcats enter the rankings after starting with three opening-week wins, including a 55-52 defeat of Oakwood.

Division III

1. Mid. Madison (3-0): Ally Malott (17.6 ppg) and Lindsay Hoskins (15.3) have handled scoring duties for the Mohawks, who have beaten Southwestern Buckeye League members Waynesville and Valley View.

2. Anna (3-0): Rockets have chance to make a Shelby County League statement on Thursday vs. Fort Loramie.

3. Brookville (2-0): With two big wins vs. Dixie (76-34) and Bethel (69-40), Blue Devils have shown they could again be a top SWBL team.

4. Miami East (3-1): Vikings suffered second-game defeat to Vandalia Butler (59-33), but have responded with defeats of Franklin-Monroe and Ansonia.

5. Versailles (3-1): Tigers stumbled in second game to Celina but have righted the way with defeats of New Knoxville and Covington.

Division IV

1. Fort Loramie (3-0): After two big wins, Redskins topped Marion Local 50-45 to remain perfect.

2. Miami Valley (2-0): Rams earned impressive 50-38 defeat of Meadowdale after topping another city league team, Belmont.

3. Minster (2-0): Wildcats have allowed a total of 38 points in first two games before entering difficult Midwest Athletic Conference play.

4. Houston (5-0): Wildcats are gearing up with early wins to try to challenge in the SCL.

5. St. Henry (3-0): Redskins, 11-11 last season, have started strong against Mississinawa Valley, Wapakoneta and Ansonia.
