Dunbar defeats Newark for openers

Dunbar jumped ahead early and held on for a 75-58 win over Newark in the boys basketball season-opener Friday night.

Sh’Mari Jackson scored 16 points off the bench and Stormi Cook and Terrance Landers added 12 points apiece for the Wolverines.

B.J. Duling had 21 points in a losing effort.

New Albany 60, Northmont 55, 2OT: Joey Rolwing's 17 points and 16 rebounds helped New Albany knock off Northmont in the Ohio Valley Hoops Classic at Wilmington College.

Xenia 75, Beavercreek 46: Ray James scored 19 points and Rocky James added 15 for Xenia. Jon Allesandro led Beavercreek with 17 points.

Vandalia 58, Tippecanoe 55: Zach Ledbetter led Vandalia with 18 points. Aaron Hughes had 21 points for Tipp.

Kenton Ridge 50, Catholic Central 42: Jordan Bailey paced Kenton Ridge with 17 points.

Chaminade Julienne 53, Johnstown Monroe 44: Eric Boykin tallied 23 points and Christian Montague added 17 for CJ in the Ohio Valley Hoops Classic.

Northridge 64, South Ripley (IN) 53: Drew Ogletree paced Northridge with 16 points and 10 rebounds at the Ohio Valley Hoops Classic.

Madison 49, Tri-County North 45: Austin Philpot led Madison with 21 points. Kurt Brinson scored 16 points for Tri-County North.

Stivers 69, Eaton 52: Isaiah Williams scored 22 points for Stivers in the Twin Valley South Invitational. Trevor Pittman had 19 points for Eaton.

Twin Valley South 52, Dixie 30: Jacob Bassler's 16 points helped spur Twin Valley South to a win in the Twin Valley South Invitational.

Miami East 59, Northwestern 41: Damien Mackesy tallied 25 points with 15 rebounds to lead Miami East.

Cedarville 47, Emmanuel Christian 46: Kevin Hall sunk a free throw at the end of regulation to give Cedarville the win. David Ball had 16 points for Emmanuel Christian.

Cin. Christian 64, Dayton Christian 61: Micah Combs had 21 points in a losing effort.

Allen East 67, New Bremen 63: Deion Hoehne poured in 31 points in a losing effort.

Russia 56, Fairlawn 48: Josh York had 29 points and Jake Gariety added 12 for Russia. Nathan Lessing scored 16 points for Fairlawn.

Girls Basketball

Clinton-Massie 53, Stivers 38: Miquela Santoro poured in 26 points for Clinton-Massie in the Waynesville Tip-Off Classic.

Graham 64, Urbana 63, OT: Graham sent the game into overtime with a desperation 3-point basket and then got a pair of foul shots with three seconds to play to rally for the win.
