Emrick leads Carlisle to win

CARLISLE — Adam Emrick scored a game-high 28 points to lead the host Carlisle High School boys basketball team to a Southwestern Buckeye League Buckeye Division win over Monroe on Friday night, Jan. 22.

Josh Koogle also scored in double digits for the Indians (4-9, 2-6 SWBL Buckeye) with 16 points.

Monroe (0-12, 0-7) was led by Zach Pate’s 18 points. Marc Hunt and Cody Ridinger each added 10 in the loss.

Northwest 68, Edgewood 53

TRENTON — The Cougars led by a point heading to the fourth quarter, but the visiting Knights outscored them 24-8 in the final stanza Friday night, Jan. 22, to pull out the win in a battle of Fort Ancient Valley Conference Scarlet Division leaders.

Northwest’s Melvin Hunter led all scorers with 25 points, while Sam Hackney led Edgewood (6-7, 3-3 FAVC Scarlet) with 14 points. Kody McCall and Brian Weber scored 12 and 10, respectively.

Preble Shawnee 61, Northridge 47

DAYTON — The Arrows avenged their only Southwestern Buckeye League Buckeye Division loss by beating host Northridge on Friday night, Jan. 22.

Preble Shawnee (9-3, 6-1 SWBL Buckeye) held a one-point lead heading into the fourth quarter and outscored the Polar Bears 27-14 for the win.

Dylan Brown scored 21 points for the Arrows, who won their fifth straight game. Will Pope added 14 points, and Willy Barnhill had 12.

Bellbrook 82, Valley View 58

GERMANTOWN — Bellbrook stormed to a 45-18 halftime advantage and never looked back in beating Southwestern Buckeye League Southwestern Division host Valley View on Friday night, Jan. 22.

Kyle Pohl led the Spartans (3-9, 2-6 SWBL Southwestern) with 20 points. Zach Denny had 17.

Emmanuel Christian 61, Mid. Christian 51

URBANA — Daniel Balsbaugh scored a game-high 23 points in Middletown Christian’s Metro Buckeye Conference loss Friday night, Jan. 22.

MCS fell to 1-10 overall and 0-6 in the league.
