BOYS BASKETBALL

FAIRFIELD 58, LEBANON 55: James Turner led a balanced Tribe attack with 10 points Saturday, Feb. 13, as the visitors won their second straight game to improve to 7-9. Willis Fleming scored nine points and Josh Edwards added eight for Fairfield, and Justin McCray notched 10 rebounds, six points and four steals. Dusty Isaacs scored 20 points for the Warriors (4-13).

HARRISON 60, TALAWANDA 44: Taylor Bucher (15) and Josh Driscol (14) led the scoring Saturday for the host Braves, who fell to 1-15. Driscol grabbed 13 rebounds and Marshall Newman hauled in nine for Talawanda. The Wildcats are 5-14.

LAKOTA WEST 54, OAK HILLS 43: Obi Nwankwo tallied 23 points for the host Firebirds on Saturday as they pushed their record to 11-5 overall and 10-2 in the Greater Miami Conference. Jordan Hicks, Monty Boykins and Matt Fox all contributed seven points, and Phillip Cook added 10 boards, four assists and three steals. The Highlanders are 6-12, 5-7.

ROSS 37, MONROE 32: Max Mischkulnig scored nine points and Derek Ridge added eight as host Ross (8-9) defeated winless Monroe on Saturday. The Hornets (0-17) were led by Cody Ridinger with a game-high 14 points.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

NEW MIAMI 56, JEFFERSON 35: Kim Gault had a triple-double in leading the host Vikings to victory Saturday. Gault had 12 rebounds and 11 assists to go along with her team-high 17 points. Amanda Matheny added 12 points for the Vikings (11-8).

PRINCETON 48, FAIRFIELD 23: The Indians closed their regular season with a road loss Saturday. Morgan Gaines led Fairfield with eight points. The Vikings (18-2, 12-2 Greater Miami Conference) were led by Kayla Joiner with 17 points. Fairfield dropped to 4-16, 2-12, and begins Division I sectional competition Saturday, Feb. 20, at 2:30, facing either Ursuline or Hamilton at Lakota East.

LAKOTA WEST 59, HAMILTON 42: Tazzie Shaw scored a game-high 14 points to lead Lakota West to a Greater Miami Conference road win Saturday. Olivia Wrencher and Kindsay Brandt each added 11 points for the Firebirds (14-6, 10-4 GMC). Dominique Singletary and Jalyn Ash led Big Blue (3-16, 1-12) with 12 points each. HHS visits Oak Hills on Monday, while West kicks off Division I sectional play at Lakota East on Wednesday, playing Amelia at 6 p.m.

MCAULEY 58, BADIN 52: The visiting Mohawks closed the game with a 15-3 run Saturday, sending the Rams to their fifth defeat against 14 wins. Kara Gerbus had a career-high 21 points for Badin, while Danielle Kelsey led McAuley (11-8) with 10. The Mohawks were 14-of-16 at the foul line in the fourth quarter. The Rams will begin Division III sectional competition Monday, facing Batavia at 6 p.m. at Wilmington.

TALAWANDA 59, NORWOOD 35: The Braves surged to a 26-14 lead and never looked back in knocking off Fort Ancient Valley Conference host Norwood on Saturday. Megan Hurley led Talawanda with a game-high 15 points. Ten other THS players also scored in the game. The Braves are 7-12 and 4-5 the FAVC Scarlet Division.

WRESTLING

ROSS WINS FAVC SCARLET: The Rams totaled 190 points Saturday to win the Fort Ancient Valley Conference tournament at Wilmington. Edgewood (141.5) was second and Talawanda (71) was sixth. Ross was led by Joe Conrad, who took first at 140 pounds and was named the Scarlet’s wrestler of the year. Patrick McKernan (112) and Joseph Jones (130) also took first for Ross, and the Rams had the coach of the year in Rich Dunn. The Cougars had two champs — Payne Fields at 103 and Nick McSorley at 125.

GUILFORD WINS GCL TITLE: Badin’s David Guilford became the first wrestler in school history to win a Greater Catholic League championship when he defeated Elder’s Ian Gillespie in the 135-pound final Saturday night. Guilford also was voted the league’s Wrestler of the Year. Eddie Sanders (130) placed second, and Chaz Bierman (140) took fourth. The Rams finished second to Purcell Marian in the GCL Central team standings.
