Extra points
Wayne’s Markus Crider scored 24 points and was MVP of the Divisions I-II North-South game last week at Capital University. Warriors teammate Travis Trice II added 17 points in a 114-102 South win.
Crider is a hot subject since indicating that he likely will not attend Providence following the firing of Keno Davis. Miami, Illinois, Penn State, Northwestern and VCU are just some of the programs after him. Trice is headed to Michigan State.
• Lakewood St. Edward was fined $250 and given a letter of reprimand by the OHSAA last week for two recruiting violations that happened last fall. St. Ed hosted a “meet the coaches night” last fall and followed up by pursuing at least two prospective student athletes.
Both are violations of OHSAA bylaws. St. Ed defeated Wayne 35-28 in the D-I football state title game last December.
• At least three area school officials have applied for the vacant Lebanon AD position: Springboro middle school AD Ben Shroyer, former Fenwick AD Jerry Kimbrinck and Alter football assistant Tim Edwards.
Joe Roberts resigned as Lebanon’s AD, effective April 1.
• Beavercreek wrestlers are getting in unusual workouts: They’re the core group of a restarted caddie program at Country Club of the North.
