Gymnastics, hockey tournaments heat up

Beavercreek senior Megan Gill leads the Miami Valley’s charge into the gymnastics district championships at Lakota East High School on Saturday, Feb. 27.

Along with Beavercreek, gymnasts from Alter, Centerville, Graham, Kenton Ridge, Lebanon, Miamisburg, Northmont, Stebbins, Tecumseh and Troy are also competing for a trip to state next weekend at Hilliard Bradley.

Gill, Beavercreek’s team captain, is coming off a Dayton City Championship all-around title after winning individual titles in the bars, floor and vault.

Also keep an eye on Stebbins’ Marisa Coker and Northmont’s Zoe Woodbury. Coker won the beam and was second on bars to help her finish runner-up in the DCC all-around.

Woodbury was third in all-around after finishing second in both the floor and vault.
