Local athletes commit to college teams

Alter senior Katie Boeckman has signed to play women’s tennis at the University of Dayton.

She was the Knights’ No. 1 singles player for four years, the Miami Valley Tennis Coaches Association D-II Player of the Year last fall as well as the Girls Greater Catholic League North Division Athlete of the Year.

Patrick Boyle of Valley View has committed for double-duty at Wooster. A quarterback and baseball prospect, he’ll play both sports at the North Coast Athletic Conference member.

A lefty, Boyle was ranked Ohio’s No. 14 QB by rivals.com.

• West Carrollton infielder Nick Shultz will play baseball at Ohio Wesleyan. As a junior, he hit .491 and finished second in batting average in the GWOC South Division. He also was named second team All-Miami Valley Baseball Coaches Association.

• Minster senior Margo Slonkosky has signed to play golf at Belmont Abbey near Charlotte, N.C. She was All-MAC and All-MAC academic last fall.

• Maci Jones of Indian Lake has signed a letter of intent to play volleyball at Urbana.

• Taylor Drake of Indian Lake is headed to Urbana to play softball.

• Springboro’s Lindsey Rosendale will play softball at Otterbein.

• Tippecanoe senior Josh Bechtol has signed to play soccer at Urbana.

• Brookville pitcher/outfielder Chaise Spangler will play baseball at Bluffton.

• Alex Leach of Carlisle has committed to play baseball at Northwestern (Ohio).

• Morgan Hunsaker of Springboro has signed to play lacrosse at Otterbein.
