Krause compiled a 26-7 record in three seasons at Middletown, including a 10-2 playoff campaign in 2009 and a 10-1 mark in 2010 that included a Greater Miami Conference co-championship and another playoff berth.
Fairfield went 2-8 last year, including a 38-2 loss to Middletown, and the Indians have had just one winning season in the last five years, going 6-4 in Aaron Fitzstephens’ first season in 2009. Fitzstephens resigned in November after just two seasons to purse a career opportunity outside of football.
“We’re thrilled and obviously very excited to get someone of (Krause’s) caliber,” Fairfield athletic director Mark Harden said. “To get him to come here is a great thing for us. It’s a great day for our school system.”
In addition to coaching football, Krause will be recommended for employment as dean of students and activities at the Jan. 20 school board meeting.
