Springboro blanks Edgewood for record-tying baseball win

The Springboro baseball team moved to 22-2 with a 10-0 blanking of host Edgewood on Thursday night.

Junior Daniel Earles scattered three hits while striking out six Cougars. Jeremy Chapman drove in four runs and Jacob Beachy added a pair of doubles for the Panthers.

The 22 wins tied a school record for most wins during the regular season. Springboro finished with 22 victories during the 2008 and 2014 regular seasons.

Barring any inclement weather, the Panthers have two remaining home games (Friday vs. Wayne, Monday vs. Beavercreek) before kicking off postseason play.

Kenton Ridge 10, Graham 0: Bailey Armentrout tossed a five-inning no-hitter and struck out seven batters. The Cougars (16-5, 12-3 CBC) clinched a share of the Central Buckeye Conference Kenton Trail Division title. Kenton Ridge can win the division outright with a win at home on Monday against Indian Lake.

Tippecanoe 8, Eaton 0: Junior Trevor Staggs pitched a no-hitter while striking out 11 as the Red Devils (16-7) won their third straight game.

Centerville 4, Vandalia Butler 3: The Elks (17-8) knocked off the Aviators (20-2), ranked No. 2 in last week's Division I state poll. Brian Schutter earned his second win with three innings of relief.

St. Henry 3, Fort Recovery 2, 11 inn.: Josh Osterholt smacked a walk-off hit with two outs in the bottom of the 11th inning.

Troy Christian 3, Dayton Christian 0: Scott Douglas struck out 12 in the complete game shutout.

Dixie 5, Milton-Union 4: Dixie's Austin Kramer drove in the game-winner in the bottom of the seventh. Kramer finished with 3 RBIs.

Arcanum 9, Tri-County North 3: Conner Pohl struck out 12 to help the Trojans clinch the Cross County Conference championship.
